2024 MAMA: The Night Rose and Bruno Mars Blew Us Away (And My Predictions for Next Year!)

Hey everyone! So, the 2024 MAMA Awards – man, what a night! I'm still buzzing from it. Seriously, I'm still replaying Rose and Bruno Mars' performance in my head. It was insane. I mean, I knew they were both huge, but seeing them together? It was like, a fever dream of pure musical talent. And I'm not just saying that because I'm a massive K-Pop stan – though, let's be honest, I totally am. 😉

I remember last year, I was totally freaking out trying to predict who would win what. Then, BOOM! Bruno Mars. I'd heard rumours, whispers on the internet, but I didn't actually believe he would be there. The man is a global superstar. But there he was, looking effortlessly cool, his voice as smooth as ever. The chemistry between him and Rose? Incredible. You could feel the energy radiating off the screen, even through my crappy internet connection.

The Collaboration That Made History (Almost)

Their collaboration? Don't even get me started. I'm pretty sure my neighbours called the police because of the screaming. Okay, maybe not, but you get the idea. It was that good. The song was fire, the visuals stunning, and the energy? Unbelievable. It was the kind of performance that makes you instantly add it to your "most iconic moments ever" playlist.

My (Slightly Less Terrible) Predictions for 2025 MAMA

Okay, so based on this year's success – and because I learned my lesson – I'm not going to predict winners. But I have a few thoughts on what might happen.

• More international collaborations: Following the Rose/Bruno Mars success, I think we'll see even more collaborations between K-Pop artists and Western stars next year. Think big names, think global appeal.
• A focus on sustainability: I'm hoping to see a greater emphasis on sustainability within the award show. Less plastic, more eco-friendly choices. It's something the industry needs to address.
• More recognition for diverse artists: I'd love to see the MAMA Awards continue to recognize artists from various backgrounds. It's always amazing to see the diversity in Korean Pop!
