Kim Raymond's Family Grows: Thankful
Hey everyone, Kim Raymond here! So, as you guys know, my family's been through a lot lately. It's been a rollercoaster, to say the least. But today, I'm overflowing with gratitude. My family’s grown, and I wanted to share that happy news with you all. It feels surreal, even now. Things have been hectic, crazy even, but in the best way possible.

A Surprise Addition

We weren’t expecting this. Seriously. We thought we were done with the whole baby thing. My husband, Mark, and I were totally content with our two amazing kids, Lily and Tom. They’re the light of our lives, you know? But then... bam! Another little one joined our crew. Unexpected, unplanned, but completely, overwhelmingly welcome. It’s a girl! We named her Grace.
I remember when we found out. It was a total shock. Mark was speechless; I think I cried for, like, an hour straight. We had a whole 'oops' moment, a giant "Wait, What?!" We were both kinda freaked out at first. We'd adjusted to our lives as a family of four. Now, it was going to be five. Five! My brain was spinning. We immediately started stressing about the whole thing, about logistics, you know, the practical side of things. Like, who's gonna change diapers at 3 AM? Is the car big enough for five? We were running on pure adrenaline and sleep deprivation for weeks, ha! But through all the stress and overwhelm, an incredible feeling of joy pushed through.

Learning to Adapt

We had to completely rethink our family routine. You wouldn't believe the chaos. Our lives were turned upside down in the best possible way. It made me realize how adaptable we are, how much love we have to give. It wasn’t always easy, and there were definitely some epic meltdowns (mostly mine!), but watching Mark become a dad again, and seeing Lily and Tom become such amazing big siblings, was honestly incredible. The kids adore Grace; they are the best big sister and big brother ever. It melts my heart.
This unexpected pregnancy taught me a lot about flexibility and going with the flow. The experience was emotionally draining but I was able to manage the stress and anxiety with exercise, meditation, and breathing exercises. Also, I was able to keep all of this stress at bay because we were able to put in systems and routines in place to help manage things. It was hectic, but manageable.

Lessons Learned: Practical Advice

So what did I learn? A few things, actually. First, planning is great, but sometimes life throws you curveballs. Second, it’s okay to ask for help. Lean on your friends, family, and even professional childcare services. Third, self-care is ESSENTIAL when you're juggling so much. Even short breaks make a world of difference. And finally, the love you feel for your family just multiplies—it doesn’t get divided. This was the biggest surprise and best part of the whole experience.
Now, a few months in, things are starting to settle down a bit. We're finding our new rhythm, creating new traditions. We're still exhausted (ha!), but so incredibly happy. This experience taught me so much, especially about embracing the unexpected, accepting that things don't always go according to plan, but ultimately trusting in myself and my incredible family. There's nothing more powerful than the bond of family, and I'm profoundly grateful for every moment.
